Program Description

Designed for Internists with limited or no experience in ultrasound, our one day workshop will cover the use of point-of-care ultrasound (lung, cardiac, vascular and FAST) in common clinical scenarios and for procedural assistance.

The workshop teaches an ultrasound-guided systematic problem-based approach to shock and dyspnea, integrating ultrasound with the traditional clinical workup.

Specific sessions teach the use of ultrasound for assistance and guidance of procedures as central line cannulation, thoracentesis and paracentesis. The one-day course focuses on indications, principles of image acquisition and interpretation, and integration of focused ultrasound in clinical decision-making. Through a combination of brief didactic lectures and small group hands-on training sessions, with both live models and a phantom-simulators, physicians gain knowledge and competency incorporating point-of-care ultrasound into their practice.
