Program Description

We will develop, test, and disseminate an online self-assessment program (SAP) to help participants to identify areas where improvement is required. The ultimate goal is to close the gap between knowledge and action with regards to the use of opioids for chronic non-cancer pain. The Canadian Opioid Guideline has 24 recommendations intended to help physicians make appropriate decisions to start a trial of opioid therapy for CNCP and to guide them in the monitoring of long-term opioid therapy, the detection of situations involving misuse, including addiction, and the appropriate response to such situations. The content of the educational program will be primarily based on the Canadian Opioid Guideline.
