Program Description

Nutrition is a key tenet in the prevention and management of many chronic diseases including diabetes, cardiovascular disease, hypertension and obesity. Despite this, nutrition education is limited in many Canadian medical school curricula, resulting in medical trainees and practicing physicians feeling ill-prepared to provide nutrition advice to their patients and their families. The Lawson Centre Digital Series aims to bridge this gap by providing physicians and healthcare providers with a relevant and comprehensive overview of topics in clinical nutrition relevant to primary care. This series will consist of ten, one hour-long interactive virtual webinars presented by clinicians, scientists and registered dietitians. Each session will introduce a key, “hot” topic, and provide the evidence based support as well as practical counseling strategies to help participants feel more confident in incorporating nutrition counseling into their practice.
