Program Description

This year’s conference will focus on Current Issues within the Ontario’s Death Investigation System with regard to current concerns pertaining to Opioid related deaths, Fire arm related deaths, and deaths in the elderly. Topics of interest include, Opioids-from a Police Perspective and Public Health, Terminal Ballistics in Forensic Pathology, Autopsy Findings and Toxicology Correlations, and the pathology of elder abuse.

We are happy to welcome a number of our death investigation partners who will provide interesting and educational presentations that are sure to generate thoughtful discussion. As always, we are grateful for the assistance of our colleagues from the Centre of Forensic Sciences, Toronto Police Service, Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care and of course, our own in-house experts for helping to create an especially interesting curriculum.

We certainly hope that you will enjoy the conference. We encourage all of you to take advantage of this opportunity to visit with colleagues and share ideas and experiences to fulfill our public safety mandate to further enhance our ability to provide consistent expertise in our daily work.

Through a series of lectures, group and panel discussions we will explore this interesting and relevant topic over the course of two and a half days.

The conference will be held at the Forensic Services and Coroners Complex in Downsview Ontario – 25 Morton Shulman Avenue, Toronto ON.
